About Claimond

Fifteen Years of Quiet Diligence

Claimond opened its doors in Kuala Lumpur in 2009 with a straightforward aim: to give individuals and companies access to legal guidance that was honest, measured, and respectful of their time. The name comes from the Old French for "bright counsel" — which remains the aspiration behind every matter we handle.

In the early years, the practice focused almost entirely on family law — a field where the stakes are deeply personal and where the quality of legal support can make a real difference to how a family navigates a difficult period. Over time, we added immigration services as Malaysia's role as a regional business hub grew, and later expanded into corporate governance advisory as clients asked for more structured support around compliance and board practices.

Today, the firm works with individuals, small business owners, and medium-sized companies across all three areas. Our team is deliberately sized to remain attentive — we take on the number of matters we can handle well, not the maximum number we can bill.

Our office is in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, close to the courts and immigration offices we regularly work with. Clients who prefer not to visit in person can be accommodated via virtual consultation.

Our Mission

To provide legal counsel that is clear, considered, and calibrated to the actual needs of the person or organisation we are working with — not a template response shaped by precedent alone.

Fairness

We present options without steering clients toward outcomes that serve the firm rather than the client.

Transparency

Fees, timelines, and realistic expectations are discussed at the outset, not revealed gradually.

Respect

Every client — regardless of the size or complexity of their matter — is treated with the same level of attention and professionalism.

How We Work

Standards and Protocols

Our internal standards reflect the expectations of the Malaysian Bar Council and our own commitment to consistent, high-quality client service.

Solicitor-Client Privilege

All communications are strictly confidential. We follow Legal Profession Act 1976 obligations and do not disclose client information to any third party without consent.

Clear Fee Agreements

Written fee agreements are issued before substantive work begins. Scope, cost, and billing intervals are explained in plain language so there are no surprises.

Malaysian Bar Registration

All advocates and solicitors at Claimond hold current practising certificates issued by the Malaysian Bar Council. Credentials are renewed annually.

Data Protection Compliance

We operate in accordance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). Client data is stored securely and used only in connection with their matter.

Timely Communication

We aim to respond to all client enquiries within one business day. For active matters, clients receive updates at each material development — not only when asked.

Conflict Checks

Before accepting a new matter, we run a conflict-of-interest check. If a conflict is identified, we inform the prospective client and, where appropriate, suggest alternative practitioners.

Legal Practice in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is home to a wide spectrum of legal service providers, from large international firms to sole practitioners. Claimond occupies a considered middle ground — a firm with the capability to handle substantive matters across family, immigration, and corporate law, while maintaining the personal attention that smaller teams are able to offer.

Malaysian family law is notably complex, given the parallel operation of civil and Islamic family courts. Understanding which jurisdiction applies and how to navigate both requires specific local experience. Our team works comfortably in both environments and can advise clients on the implications of each pathway.

Immigration law in Malaysia is also an area that changes with some regularity, as government policy responds to shifts in employment demand and regional economic dynamics. Our immigration team monitors these changes and advises clients based on current requirements, not outdated practice guides.

What Distinguishes Considered Counsel

Corporate governance advisory in Malaysia has grown in relevance as regulatory scrutiny of listed and unlisted companies has increased. Companies preparing for an initial public offering, responding to a Bursa Malaysia directive, or restructuring their boards after a change in ownership benefit from structured guidance that combines legal knowledge with practical implementation support.

At Claimond, our advisory engagements are framed around what the company actually needs to achieve — whether that is a compliant board structure, a documented compliance programme, or simply a clearer picture of where governance gaps exist. We do not produce reports that sit in a drawer.

For more information about our background, approach, or fee structure in any of these areas, we welcome direct conversation. There is no charge for the initial discussion.
